In the name of God

Major (Course): Cell and molecular biology

Program: Ph.D.

Introduction: Cells, genes and macromolecules are crucial elements in living organisms and have a significant position in biology. Rapid advances in cell and molecular biology have had a major impact on our life. From the production of novel drugs, to revolutionary advances in our understanding of how cells work, the areas of cell and molecular biology have contributed to our lives in a number of ways. As a fundamental science, it has a major influence on other sciences such as medicine, pharmacy and biotechnology. Cell and Molecular Biology Ph.D. program provides a core curriculum in those subjects that are of importance to all students in the fields of cell and molecular biology, complemented by specific courses in each students area of concentration. The duration of the Ph.D. program course is 8 semesters, which include educational period (2-4 semester), qualifying exam and research period. Anyone who has a masters degree in biology can apply for this Ph.D. program. Specializations include: molecular, genetic and cellular biology approaches in the study of normal and disease states; the structure-function relationships of nucleic acids, proteins, genome regulation and expression; cell proliferation and differentiation, receptors and signal transduction.
