Materials engineering is one of the majors that has been rightly called the father of engineering; it can be claimed that the majority of human products are made by materials engineers. Automobiles, trains, and airplanes all have their main parts (such as body, glass, and engine) made of materials. In general, it can be stated that most developments of science and industry are, either directly or indirectly, in debt to this major. Therefore, materials engineering can be a great help to production teams comprised of engineers of electricity, mechanics, chemistry, civil, and industry in designing and manufacturing almost all human products.
This major at M.Sc. level has the following subfields at the GUAT: identifying and choosing the method of manufacturing materials, forming, welding, extracting, ceramic, corrosion and casting.
