Major (Course): Earthquake Engineering

Program: Master/PhD

Introduction:

The earthquake engineering department was established in 2017. The main mission of this department is to move toward minimizing casualties caused by the earthquake in seismic-prone regions. One of the most important short-term goals of the department concerns the training of individuals who can analyze and design structures against earthquake loads. These people can comment on the issues related to the retrofitting of buildings, water facilities, and different types of structures to make them less vulnerable to earthquakes. One of the most important long-term objectives of the department concerns the recognition and understanding of the earthquake phenomenon as an input into the buildings and infrastructure as well as issues related to the management of the crisis caused by a destructive earthquake.
